Sean Healy

Of Counsel

Sean Healy is Of Counsel to Van Prooyen Greenfield LLP, providing strategic media relations and financial communications counsel on a range of client work, including proxy fights, corporate reputation, executive positioning, high-profile litigation communications and crisis communications.

Mr. Healy founded Healy Corporate Communications in May 2008 to support the communications and publicity efforts of a range of corporate clients, including The Coca-Cola Company, Cardinal Health and Blumberg Capital Partners, a commercial real estate investment firm.  He is also a senior consultant to Fleishman-Hillard International Communications, one of the largest public relations firms in the world.

Before starting his own consultancy, Mr. Healy had been a senior vice president and partner in Fleishman-Hillard’s corporate & business-to-business group in New York for more than three years.  He specializes in national business media relations and publicity strategy and supports an array of high-profile Fleishman-Hillard clients, including Lenovo (the world's third-largest PC maker), AT&T and Columbia Business School.

Before joining Fleishman-Hillard in 2004, Mr. Healy was the corporate public relations director at EDS, the $20 billion technology services company that’s now part of Hewlett Packard.  There, he managed the national and financial media relations functions and was responsible for relationships with editors and reporters at “tier one” media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, USA Today, and the major news wire services.  He also served as a company spokesperson.

Mr. Healy managed EDS’ external communications, including media strategy for quarterly earnings and M&A activity.  Specific accomplishments included oversight of the media relations effort supporting EDS’ CEO and CFO transitions in 2003, which brought former CBS Chairman Mike Jordan to the company.  He also designed the messaging and media strategy launching EDS’ transformation effort under Mr. Jordan.

Mr. Healy’s EDS work ranged from coordinating post-Sept. 11 media activity related to client disaster-recovery efforts, to creating a message platform to guide communications efforts in response to financial performance issues, to media support of EDS’ renowned Super Bowl ads.

Before joining EDS, Mr. Healy was vice president of media relations at Visa USA.  He was based in New York as Visa's primary media contact.  He crafted communications strategies to increase the use of Visa-branded payment products and served as print and broadcast spokesperson on a range of topics, including online security, holiday shopping expectations and debt levels.

Mr. Healy’s 20-year career in public relations also has included media relations work at AlliedSignal (now Honeywell), where he oversaw publicity strategy to boost the company’s reputation for manufacturing excellence, Six Sigma productivity/quality and management savvy under CEO Larry Bossidy.

Mr. Healy began his corporate communications career in 1987 at the NYNEX Yellow Pages unit in Lynn, Mass., where he oversaw publicity strategy and served as chief spokesperson.  (NYNEX is now Verizon.) In 1989, the telecommunications company promoted Mr. Healy and relocated him to corporate headquarters in White Plains, N.Y., where he managed financial communications, including shareholder reports and quarterly earnings.

Mr. Healy has a B.S. degree in public relations from Boston University’s College of Communication and an M.B.A. in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
