Britt K. Strottman

Vice President

Britt K. Strottman is a Vice President and Account Director at Van Prooyen Greenfield LLP, where she specializes in developing and implementing strategic marketing and public relations plans for law firms, law schools and corporations within related industries.  Ms. Strottman also utilizes her experience as a former litigator and prosecutor to provide strategic litigation communications counseling to clients.

She is skilled at implementing media plans that raise law firm awareness and promote individual attorneys and practice groups within targeted industries in addition to executing law firm re-branding initiatives, including redevelopment of websites and marketing collateral.  Ms. Strottman’s unique understanding of the law, law firm business practices, and the challenges of legal marketing while maintaining a thriving practice helps her to obtain media placements that clients can utilize in additional marketing initiatives. 

Prior to joining VPG, Ms. Strottman was a staff attorney in the Litigation Department at Bingham McCutchen LLP in San Francisco, California where she supervised and trained more than 30 contract attorneys on an extensive document review and production for a large intellectual property matter.  She is experienced in managing all aspects of litigation, including issues research, drafting complaints, obtaining preliminary injunctive relief, motion practice, pre-trial discovery, drafting settlements, jury and bench trials. 

Ms. Strottman has extensive experience regarding securities, class action lawsuits, tobacco, and white collar litigation from both the defense and Plaintiff’s perspective from her position as a Senior Assistant Attorney General at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.  While there, Ms. Strottman drafted press releases and talking points for the Attorney General as well as handled communications and public relations on a special task force after the Governor of Ohio threatened to impeach the elected Attorney General to leave office due to sexual harassment and theft of office allegations.  Ms. Strottman served as the lead Assistant Attorney General handling subprime securities class action litigation against E*Trade, Merrill Lynch, Freddie Mac, and Citigroup on behalf of the nation’s two largest public pension funds.  Ms. Strottman also served as the lead counsel for enforcing the public health provisions of the tobacco Master Settlement Agreement, a 200 page contract with Fortune 100 tobacco companies.  Ms. Strottman was also lead counsel in a trial for $5 million against R.J. Reynolds for an advertisement in Rolling Stone magazine.  Ms. Strottman also worked on investigations involving alcohol companies and worked with alcohol and tobacco companies to implement responsible retailing practices.  Ms. Strottman also has significant jury trial experience from several years as a Deputy District Attorney at the San Mateo District Attorney’s Office where she handled felony and misdemeanor cases involving embezzlement, identity theft, welfare fraud, elder financial abuse, and three-strike cases.  Through these experiences, Ms. Strottman understands the complex and sensitive issues companies face in highly-regulated industries. 

She is a member of the Bar of the State of California.  Ms. Strottman received a B.A., in English from Vanderbilt University in 1997She received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 2000, where she served as a teaching assistant.
